Sylvester Stallone Had Broken Up With His Wife Through A Letter Before Realizing She Was The One

"It was sloppy," Jennifer recollects.

Relationships usually don't last long in Hollywood but after being together for 32 years, Sylvester Stallone and Jennifer Flavin proved everyone wrong. Their relationship had its ups and downs but they beat the odds and here they are, still married with three daughters. The Rocky actor had won the hearts of many women around the world but it was only one woman who would manage to capture his.

Jennifer Flavin was 19-years-old when she met the then 42-year-old Stallone. She was just starting out as a model while he was already an established actor with a history of two divorces and a roving eye. It was love at first sight for the couple when they met at a West Hollywood restaurant. At the time everyone doubted this relationship would survive after all Sylvester had been left "battered", "scarred", "humiliated", and "trashed" after his two divorces, according to People Archives. The couple went on to prove everyone wrong by dating for 9 years after even if the relationship was on and off.

In many instances, the two were the epitome of the perfect relationship even though theirs was an unconventional one. Jennifer would stay by his side as he faced hardships in his career while he would be present and cheering for her at all times for all her shows. Most of all they loved to have someone to come home to, "When we come together, it is wonderful," Stallone said in 1991, "When we are separate, there are no strings attached. That’s the way it is. No strings." A year later, Jennifer commented on the nature of their relationship, then saying, "I’m not naive about what may go on when I’m not around—he’s a 45-year-old man—I can’t change the way he is. Still. He’s not a cheating dog every day of the week. We spend five out of seven nights together, so I don’t know where he’d find the time."

We all do things in relationships that we are not so proud of, for Stallone, it was when he decided to break it off with Flavin over a poorly written letter in 1994. "He sent me a six-page handwritten letter, in pen," she recollects, "It was pretty sloppy." It seemed at the time that Stallone, who was reprising the role of Rocky at the time, had gotten close to model Janice Dickinson which led to him calling it quits with Jennifer. It was said that the year that they spent apart, they suffered through a string of failed relationships, "Jennifer has made all the difference," he told the Toronto Star, according to People Archives

1995 would see the couple get back together and in 1997 the two would wed. They were blessed with their three daughters, Sophia, 24, and Sistine, 22, and Scarlet,18, who are models now. Stallone in many instances spoke about how he now knows Jennifer's value and swears by her for everything. "It took me 19 years to realize she’s always right. I realized that women have a knack, at least Jennifer, for making incredibly erudite, wise, smart decisions. I always leap without looking," Sylvester said in a 2010 interview with the Daily Telegraph
