'The Ranch' Actor, Sam Elliot Is The Most Handsome Man At The Age Of 78 In Hollywood

He is well-known for his deep and raspy voice and has been awarded a spot on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Sam Elliot, a Hollywood icon, is the most handsome 78-year-old in the industry. He turned 78 on August 9 this year, and his work and grace have withstood the test of time, per Diply.

He is well known for his roles in Road House, The Ranch, 1883, and Tombstone. He also starred in the 2018 drama, A Star is Born for which he received an Oscar nomination. Elliott was born in 1944, in Sacramento, California. He relocated to Portland, Oregon, with his parents when he was 14 years old, where he spent most of his childhood, per PEOPLE.

He studied psychology and English for two semesters at the University of Oregon before moving to Clark College, where he was cast in a Guys and Dolls theater production. After his father died of a heart attack, he dropped out of school. Elliott relocated to Los Angeles, California, to pursue acting, something his father opposed. He established himself as a character performer throughout the 1960s. He rose to prominence in the Western genre, owing to his memorable smokey, deep voice.

Elliott married Katharine Ross in 1984, and their daughter Cleo Rose Elliott was born in September of that year. They've lived in a beachfront mansion in Malibu, California, since the 1970s. Ross had been married to four other men before meeting Elliot, per Amomama.

Instead of pursuing acting in the shadow of her renowned actor parents, Cleo chose to pursue stardom through music, and her parents supported her decision. She released her album No More Lies in 2009. She composed all but one of the tracks on the album, which incorporates pop-rock elements.

Elliot began appearing in significant films during the 2000s after experimenting with voice parts such as narrating The Big Lebowski in 1998. He played Command Sergeant Major Basil L. Plumley in We Were Soldiers in 2002, and General Thaddeus Ross in 2003's Hulk. Elliott entered the streaming market in 2015, after a successful career in TV and film, when he joined the cast of Netflix's The Ranch.

Elliott was also honored by the National Board of Review for his performance in A Star Is Born, receiving the coveted prize for Best Supporting Actor. He is now working in Westerns as Shea Brennan in the Paramount+ miniseries, 1883. The series is a spinoff of the popular neo-western Yellowstone, which starred Kevin Costner as John Dutton.

On January 8, 2019, Elliott was honored with his own hand and footprint ceremony on the prestigious Hollywood Walk of Fame in California.
