A family of four, including two kids, faced the terrible misery of their life when the mother and father of the kids lost their lives four weeks apart from each other. Leaving the two kids behind the sorrow of the family remains irreparable. It is reported that both parents were fighting long-term ailments, Amie Walton was suffering from liver and bowel cancer and was going through treatment for the same. Chris Mills on the other hand was suffering from stomach ulcers.

Amie, the 30-year-old mother of two died exactly four weeks after her 42-year-old husband, Chris passed away due to a rupture of a stomach ulcer admitted just beside her in Good Hope Hospital. The duo was hospitalized in July to treat their ailments separately.

Their eight-year-old son, Harry, and six-year-old daughter, Mia, are now under the care of their Maternal grandmother, Tracey.

According to Birmingham Live, the couple was cremated separately on August 8, and September 12, respectively. The last rites were performed by the bereaving family’s extended members and locals who came forward to support the kids. A local shopkeeper, Bal Singh had set up a fundraising page and organized a raffle for the distraught children of Amie and Chris, following their deaths.

Talking about his affection for the kids Singh also said, "Harry and Mia have a special place in our hearts. Losing a parent at such a young and tender age is painful but to lose both parents is beyond devastating. The circumstances were incomprehensible and have touched every single person.” Speaking about the initiative he had earlier said, "We are coming together as a collective community to do the best we can for Harry and Mia and I would like to express my heartfelt thanks and gratitude to each and everyone for their support in playing an important part in the wellbeing of not only Harry and Mia but for their families too."

Amie’s treatment was funded through crowdfunding and by the goodwill of netizens who came across her story and quest to survive for her kids. A fund of £20,000 was raised for her immediate treatment within 24 hours for SIRT radiotherapy privately, after which the doctors reported that cancer had spread and she had 50 tumors in each lung.

Amie’s mother Tracey put a brave after suffering the loss of her daughter’s devastated family that she is thankful to all involved who are helping raise money for her grandchildren as it has been a very hard time for them because of the demise of their young parents.

"We were all busy concentrating on helping Amie through her illness and preparing ourselves for what lay ahead when we had the massive shock of Chris passing unexpectedly, Amie was so brave and built herself up to get through it which I was so proud of her for,” she added. "We will continue to live on with them both in our hearts and do the best to bring up their children the best we can. Again, thank you to Bal and everyone for their continued support, much love."
