She apparently tossed the child and ran away to the woods.
A mother from Mississippi has been charged with capital murder for allegedly throwing her 2-month-old daughter on the street which led to the child's death. Makaylia Shaylynn Jolley, 20, "repeatedly and forcibly" threw her child, Pearl, on the roadway, reports PEOPLE. Police discovered another woman, Khalysie Lashay Jolley, who was gravely injured after receiving repeated 911 calls. According to the press release by Pearl Police Department, Makaylia escaped into the adjacent woods but was quickly arrested.
Police chief Dean Scott said, "At this point, all we can do is say a prayer for the child. The Good Lord figures this baby is too good for this world. According to WAPT, Makaylia, who is apparently quite acquainted to local narcotics cops, is also the mother of a son who is presently in the care of his grandmother.
When the fire department and paramedics arrived, they performed CPR on the kid before transporting her to Children's Hospital of Mississippi in Jackson, where she was classified in serious condition. Chief Dean Scott said, "We shut the city of Pearl down. She was heavily escorted, I'll say that."

Officials announced on Saturday that Khalysie had died as a result of her injuries. A neighbor told the police, "I don't understand. Something had to go wrong. Postpartum, or something. Because she (Makaylia) really is a very good mother."
A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to assist the family with the infant's funeral costs. The child's great grandmother Paula Stolley, wrote on the campaign page, "My great granddaughter has passed away and I’m speechless just writing this we would greatly appreciate it if y’all can donate anything possible!" She added, "This was very unexpected and very tragic so we do not have the funds to cover it! We thank all of y’all for the prayers that have been coming our way god bless y’all." The page has raised over $4,000 until now.
Makaylia has been charged with felony child abuse in addition to the capital murder charge. Her initial court appearance is set on Tuesday. It isn't known if she has an attorney or has enetred a plea until now.
