Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Share Adorable Photo of Lilibet on Her First Birthday

She is named after her great grandmother, the Queen, whose childhood name was Lilibet.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry celebrated the first birthday of their daughter Lilibet on Saturday. To mark this special occasion, they shared some candid pictures of their child with the world. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed close friends and family to a "casual, intimate backyard picnic" at their Frogmore Cottage residence on Saturday, according to a spokesperson for the pair, reports PEOPLE. Lili smiles sweetly in the adorable shot as she plays in her family's yard. She is dressed in a blue gown and has a white lace bow in her red hair, which she inherited from her father, Harry.

A spokesperson told TODAY that the candid, impromptu snapshot was taken by Misan Harriman, a close family friend, and attendee at Lili's birthday party. They said that Claire Ptak of Violet Bakery in East London made a customized cake for the birthday girl. Ptak was also responsible for creating the couple's wedding cake in 2018. The world got the first glimpse of Lilibet in the couple's Christmas card last year.

The outpouring of birthday greetings for their daughter, Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, touched Harry and Meghan greatly. They were also astounded to find that individuals from all around the world donated over $100,000 to the World Central Kitchen (WCK) in her honor. WCK is a unique cause for the couple, who are grateful to everyone who has shown their support. In response to humanitarian, climatic, and communal disasters, the organization provides meals to those in need.

Meghan and Harry flew to the United Kingdom last week with their two children, Archie, 3, and Lilibet, who turned one on Saturday, for the Queen's Platinum festivities. They stayed at Frogmore Cottage in the United Kingdom, which is about half a mile from Windsor Castle. On Sunday, they returned to California and this marked Lilibet's first trip to the U.K after she was born in California. Archie was born in the United Kingdom on May 6, 2019, but had not returned since he was six months old.

Lilibet met her great-grandmother for the first time, who she is also named after as Lilibet was the Queen's childhood name. Archie and Lili did not attend any Jubilee celebrations and Meghan and Harry attended Thursday's Trooping the Colour and Friday's Thanksgiving ceremony at St. Paul's Cathedral in honor of the Queen. They did not attend Saturday's Platinum Party at the Palace or Sunday's Platinum Jubilee Pageant outside Buckingham Palace. As Harry and Meghan are no longer active members of the royal family following their resignation in 2020, they did not join the Queen on the balcony.
