Meghan and Harry May Make Oprah Winfrey Godparent To Their Daughter, Claims Insider

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex and "the queen of all media" have apparently become very close since their move to LA and their explosive tell-all interview.

Much has happened after the couple's interview with Oprah Winfrey. While the royal family distanced themselves from the couple, Winfrey apparently stood by the two, helping them throughout the process. Perhaps this is why Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are now considering making her their daughter's godmother.

The chat show host has apparently grown closer to the couple over the past few months, especially after their interview with her. Oprah also lives close to the couple's luxury mansion in Santa Barbara. Omid Scobie, the co-author of Finding Freedom, suggested that the couple was considering making Winfrey their daughter's godmother. Scobie, who is a close friend of the couple, said, "If one of those godparents is Oprah - and I’m not saying that she is - then you can understand why perhaps they want to keep that to themselves because even Oprah sitting down to interview them was controversial enough in itself," reported Mirror

An insider further claimed that Meghan wants her daughter to be surrounded by fellow strong females. "She wants her girl to be surrounded by strong female role models, and Oprah certainly fits the bill. She’s been a real support to both her and Harry since they moved to California, and Meghan knows she can rely on her, no matter what," the individual told Heat. Reports suggested that Meghan's close friend Serena Williams could also be a contender to become the child's godmother. The two, who have been friends for over seven years, are extremely close. Meghan has often been pictured supporting the champ at her matches.

From who they will name as their child's godparent to whether they will return to the UK, royal experts and authors have been making many speculations but none has been confirmed by the couple. Meghan and Harry celebrated their three-year wedding anniversary this week and announced that they will be shutting down their non-profit foundation, Sussex Royal, which they had renamed as MWX in 2020. This led to many claiming that it was a sign that they do not intend to return to the UK.
