Lisa Kudrow Had To Wait For 11 Long Years To Finally Call The Man She Fell In Love With, Her Husband

Lisa Kudrow did not think she would meet Michael Stern again. But destiny brought them together.

Some unions are just meant to be even when they seem totally accidental. It almost looks like the universe devised a plan for two people to meet each other and fall in love. Best known for her role as Phoebe Buffay in Friends, Lisa Kudrow has such a love story. She met her husband of 25 years, Michael Stern in the 1980s when she was staying along with a French roommate.

"I was living with a French girl and he had just moved here and they were dating when we first met. But I'm freakishly polite, so I saw him and went, 'Well, he's the perfect man and it's all ruined because now they're together and I can't (make a play for him),'" recalled the actress, according to Daily Mail. Though she was attracted to him, she had to think about her roommate's relationship with him.

"I thought that that's not nice to flirt. But the minute I saw him I went, 'Well, that's it, there he is,'" reminisced the 56-years-old. Apart from wanting to stick to her morals, she was afraid of others noticing her attraction towards him. "But I was so afraid anyone would see that I liked him, so when he'd come to pick her up, he'd say, 'Oh, hello Lisa,' and I'd say, 'Hi,' and I'd go and leave the room and he thought I was a freak," recalled the Web Therapy actress. However, Stern's relationship with her roommate ended two and a half months later and Lisa did not expect to see him again.

But life took an unexpected turn six years later. She met him again and soon began their friendship. "They went out for two and a half months and six years later I met him again at her birthday party and we just never stopped. We're still friends," she said, according to Contact Music.

Kudrow was smitten and she wanted him to be much more than just a friend. So, the couple started dating and after five years of courtship, they tied the knot on 27 May, 1995. Three years later, they welcomed their little boy, Julian Murray Stern. Though Kudrow does not talk extensively about her married life on camera, she did spill out a few things about her marriage in an interview with Glamour Magazine.

"When [Michel and I] decided to get married, we understood: We're not promising to love each other forever, because you can't do that, but we are promising to work on whatever problems come up. We're committed to our marriage working. It turns out after you have a history, there's such a bond, and love takes another shape. But, oh, I don't want to jinx it—I'm superstitious!" said the mother of one.

She also talked about how maintaining one's independence in marriage is very important. "[Michel and I] respect each other's independence, and I don't mean that as a euphemism. I don't mean relationship-wise outside the marriage. Clear? But I don't like to travel. So if he wants to go on a golf trip, he goes. I think people get in trouble [when they assume they're] supposed to be one unit, in sync about everything. [Marriage] is like being on a team. Each teammate is different, but you have the same goal," said the actress, according to Glamour Magazine.

Kudrow and Stern's relationship is strong and they share a love that is truly special.
