When the head judge on Dancing with the Stars, Len Goodman's wife left him, he was devastated. His first wife left him, and he didn't think he'd ever be able to feel happiness again. That is until, Sue Barrett, a dance instructor, swept Len off his feet. When Goodman finally found the love of his life, he definitely made the jump to marry her. The stern British reality TV personality, then 68, wed his longtime partner, Sue Barrett, then 47, in a secret ceremony in 2013, per USA TODAY. Len's wedding came as a complete surprise to his family and friends. He invited 30 family members and friends, who believed they were going to a nice lunch, but what they witnessed was actually a wedding ceremony. When Len decided to marry his longtime girlfriend, only his mother was one to know. "I wanted it to be a low-key affair, so we didn't tell anyone except my 96-year-old mum as I didn't want her having a heart attack with the surprise," he shared.

On November 14, during the semifinal, which was co-hosted by Tyra Banks and Alfonso Ribeiro, Goodman shocked everyone when he announced that he would not be returning next year, per Newsweek. Goodman, who runs a ballroom dance school in the United Kingdom, shared that he wishes to spend more time with his family. "I've decided to spend more time with my grandchildren and family back in the UK," he said. During Monday's live show, he told the audience, "I'm looking forward to the season finale next week. It's also tinged with sadness because this will be my final season judging on Dancing with the Stars. I've been with the show since it first aired in 2005, and it's been an honor to be a part of it."

For Goodman, his family is really important. Describing his wife Sue and how much joy she brings him, he said, "I'd been going out with my lovely Sue for ages and I decided it was time to pop the question. She's gorgeous and makes me very happy — though she likes to stay out of the limelight," he said when he got married to her in 2013, per Daily Mail. Per Mirror, in an interview, Goodman gushed over his wife like a teenager. “You don’t know Sue, she is the best girl in the world. I swear to you, she is the kindest, most generous, thoughtful person. I tell you what, I am so lucky, she is just marvelous. I’m 68 – I know what’s what. I am telling you this girl Sue is brilliant.”

“I was 60 years old running a little dance school, semi-retired and suddenly I get the call to go for an interview for Strictly Come Dancing. Loads of people went but fortunately, I was the one they asked to do it. I was lucky to get Dancing With The Stars. They actually wanted Bruno, not me. They thought I was too old but they couldn’t find anyone else. I was like a last-minute replacement. But meeting Sue was the luckiest moment of all.”
