After witnessing Kate Hudson's lovely Father's Day post devoted to him, Kurt Russell is extremely touched and delighted. On Sunday, June 19, Hudson shared a throwback shot with Russell on Instagram. She wrote in the caption, "Our great loyal protector. Our dependable authentic captain. Our wild, sometimes untamed adventurer father!" She added, "From skiing out of helicopters, flying in open-cockpit planes, dirt bikes, bareback horse riding, motorcycle rides, boat racing…a childhood and adulthood of adventure."

She concluded the post by writing, "Our Pa always makes life fun. Always down for exploring, always ready to take on the good life with his family. He’s one hell of a Dad Lucky us Happy Fathers' Day Pa I love you so much." Russell doesn't have Instagram, so he replied to Hudson's post via Goldie Hawn's account. Goldie Hawn, Hudson's mother, and Russell have been married for 39 years. They co-starred in the 1984 comedy Swing Shift which started their lifelong romance, reports TODAY. Russell raised Hudson and her brother, Oliver, because the siblings were distanced from their biological father, Bill.

Hawn wrote in the comments, "Honey I showed this to daddy. Here’s his message…" Russell continued, "Birdie, mommy just showed me this picture, this perfect Father’s Day present. I’ve never seen it before. Wow… it’s a killer. Lotta water under the bridge… it’s kinda hard to see it though cause all that water seems to somehow have found its way into my eyes… thanks for making me the luckiest father in the world sweetheart."

He concluded the comment by saying, "I love you, Pa." Hawn also gave Russell a special shoutout on Instagram, accompanying a photo of the two stars kissing. She wrote in the caption, "How can I explain the gratitude and love I feel for the greatest father who has given us all so much in this life." Hawn had no intention of marrying Russell when they first got together. She told TODAY, "Marriage didn't work for either one of us. I'm not saying that it wouldn't work again, but I didn't think that we really needed to get married."

Last year, Hudson spoke to TODAY about growing up in a blended family and how it influences how she raises her three children, Ryder, 18, Bingham, 10, and Rani, 3. She said, "I’ve got multiple dads, I’ve got kids all over the place." She talked about her relationship with her biological father, "Estrangement is unfortunately quite common. I think it’s important for people to talk about that. If they can’t reconnect or if it’s too challenging, that it’s OK, right?"

She added, "It’s a 41-year-old issue. I have a great family. I have a beautiful mother. I have a stepfather who stepped in and played a huge, huge part in sharing what it is to have a dependable father figure in our life. But it doesn’t take away from the fact that we didn’t know our dad."

She further said, "I think as I’ve sort of gone through that process ... I kind of look at my dad and I’m, like, ‘You know, the love has never ever gone anywhere. It’s always been there, no matter what those complications have been. And healing is ... personal, and I think people sometimes just need to hear that they’re not alone in that.' "
