Here's another story that reaffirms that the 'Matrix' actor is one of the nicest guys in Hollywood.
Talk about a "sweet" fan encounter! A Twitter user shared an experience from his younger days that reaffirms Keanu Reeves is one of the nicest people in Hollywood. He's SO nice that Insider has even gone on to list 13 reasons why the actor is the "greatest person ever." This list includes everything from being respectful of his fans, which a lot of them seem to account for on social media platforms. The Matrix actor also frequently poses for photos and signs autographs for his fans. He also goes the extra mile where he expresses random gestures of kindness like giving up his seat on a crowded subway train to secretly donating huge sums of money to children's hospitals. Recently, a fan of his shared about a past encounter with the now 56-year-old star in a series of tweets. Twitter user James Dator recalled meeting the Canadian actor when he was just 16 years old and working at a movie theater.
Keanu came to the movie theater I worked at in Sydney in 2001. He was working on the Matrix series at the time. It’s a quiet, Wednesday morning — almost nobody is seeing movies.— James Dator (@James_Dator) May 17, 2019
A man walked up to him wearing a pair of jeans, teamed with a leather jacket, and a rather weird "equestrian looking helmet. It took the teen "30 seconds" to realize it was Reeves in the flesh. He had come to the movies to watch From Hell starring Johnny Depp, which follows a psychic police detective investigating the murders committed by Jack the Ripper. Dator wanted to get the star's autograph, but also did not want to come off as "uncool", and so he offered the actor an employee discount which required him to sign his sheet. This left Reeves utterly confused.
“I don’t work here,” Keanu says. Seemingly confused by my offer. I’m flustered and just charge him the normal price. Kicking myself after for not getting his autograph— James Dator (@James_Dator) May 17, 2019
Dator remembers "kicking" himself for not being direct and asking for the John Wick star's autograph when he had the chance. But to his surprise, he heard a knock on his door just two minutes later. “I realized you probably wanted my autograph,” the actor apparently said. “So I signed this.” When Dator checked the piece of paper, it was a receipt. He realized that Keanu bought an ice cream just so he could get a piece of paper in the form of a receipt in order to provide a 16-year-old with an autograph!
I realize later that he bought an ice cream cone he didn’t want, just to get receipt paper so he could scribble his autograph for a 16-year-old idiot.— James Dator (@James_Dator) May 17, 2019
One person joked: Keanu is a genuinely nice guy--and you literally have the receipts. Another added: The story is incomplete without a picture of the receipt. Sadly, Dator admitted that "honestly, it’s either somewhere in the attic of my mom’s house or lost in the move.” Sure enough, more Twitter users hopped on board to share their own stories about meeting the Canadian actor and how and humble and sweet he is with his fans. One such fan shared: Shortly after bill and Ted came out, 8 year old me saw him at Newark airport. Went up to him and asked “are you keanu reeves?” “Yea, I am.” He spoke to my older brother and I for 45 minutes and gave us his number. He was awesome to spend that time with. We called but missed him. Another added: Keanu 4ever. Saw this man sitting on a fire hydrant in NYC. A fucking fire hydrant. & he looked cool doing it. Mustered the courage to speak to him as he’s getting up & he was the nicest guy on the planet. Let me take 2 selfies because my hand was shaking too much the first time.
