Jennifer Aniston Shares Her Biggest Regret From Marriage To Brad Pitt: "I Put His Needs Before Mine"

The star has learned from her past and acknowledged that there was a lot she would probably have done differently.

Who can deny that Jen and Brad were one of Hollywodd's hottest couples? Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston were married from 2000 to 2005 but fans still want them to get back together even today. Their relationship has always been the talk of the town and their split came as a shock to many fans. While Aniston and Pitt are friends today (for now!) and while the 52-year-old actress herself has said that she still thinks of their marriage as an overall success, there are some things she'd do differently. Speaking to Vanity Fair in 2005, she revealed, that she wished she didn’t “give over so much” of herself to the relationship. Because she's so much of a giver, she forgot to focus on her own well-being. She told the magazine, "I wouldn’t give over so much of myself, which I did at times. It was that thing about being a nurturer; I love taking care of people, and I definitely put his needs before mine sometimes."

The Friends star also admitted that she and Pitt didn't have the opportunity to spend much quality time together outside of their busy lives. "I'd take more vacations—getting away from work, enjoying each other in different environments," Aniston said. "But there was always something preventing it; either he was working or I was. Despite it all, she still feels “lucky” to have been married to him, and doesn’t “regret any of it.” "I will love him for the rest of my life. He’s a fantastic man. I don’t regret any of it, and I’m not going to beat myself up about it. We spent seven very intense years together; we taught each other a lot—about healing, and about fun." Aniston has no hard feelings about her past marriages, including one with Justin Theroux. The pair wed in August 2015, before calling it quits in February 2018. "My marriages, they’ve been very successful, in [my] personal opinion," she told ELLE. "And when they came to an end, it was a choice that was made because we chose to be happy, and sometimes happiness didn’t exist within that arrangement anymore. "

How does Pitt feel about their former relationship? The Fight Club actor has had regrets—more so about how they split and the way he handled it. The 57-year-old has had second thoughts about the way he dealt with his divorce from Aniston. While he “doesn’t like to dwell on the past,” he “of course wishes he’d handled the end of their marriage in a more thoughtful manner,” a source previously told Us Weekly. “He asked for Jen’s forgiveness a long time ago and she gave it.”

What are the exes now in terms of their relationship? Aniston told Howard Stern on SiriusXM's The Howard Stern Show that there remains no awkwardness between the former couple and that they're actually friends. The two had appeared in a fundraising table read of Fast Times at Ridgemont High where Aniston's character catches Pitt's character masturbating in the bathroom while fantasizing about her.

Sure enough, it sent the internet into a tizzy. But Aniston brushes it off. "It was absolutely fun," she said, according to PEOPLE. "Brad and I are buddies, we're friends. We speak, and there's no oddness at all, except for everyone that probably watched it and was wanting there to be, or assumed there to be," Aniston went on. "We had fun, and it was for a great cause."
