Dick Van Dyke Spotted Having Lunch With a Friend | “I’m Just Glad to Still Be Here”

The 96-year-old actor has seven grandchildren and four children with ex-wife Margerie Willet. He is now married to Arlene Silver.

Dick Van Dyke, the American actor, and comedian says that he is extremely happy to be alive at 96 years old. As he came from lunch with a friend in LA on Thursday, the actor seemed to be in a good mood, reports Daily Mail. Last week, well-wishers asked the loving father-of-four whether he had any plans for father's day, and he said the weekend would be low-key. He joked before driving away, "I'm just glad to still be here." Dick has seven grandchildren and four children with ex-wife Margerie Willet, whom he married in 1948 on the radio show Bride and Groom and divorced 36 years later. Michelle Triola Marvin, his lifelong partner, died in 2009 after 30 years of marriage, and he has been married to Arlene Silver, 50, since 2012.

Dick first met Arlene in 2007 while working at the 13th Screen Actors Guild Awards, when he gave Julie Andrews a lifetime achievement award. Arlene recalled that moment, "He said, 'Hi, I'm Dick.' The first thing I asked him was, 'Weren't you in Mary Poppins?' " She added, "We got along immediately as friends, so it didn't feel like he was so much older than me." Dick was also seen picking up fake tan at a pharmacy, revealing the secrets of his perpetual youth and demonstrating that you're never too elderly to enjoy a little pampering, per Metro UK. According to the product description, he bought a can of Neutrogena micro-mist self-tanning spray, which claims to be able to achieve a tan two or three shades deeper than your original skin tone.

The movie actor turned 96 in December and while his public appearances are becoming increasingly infrequent, they still make fans happy when they happen. Dick fought in the US Army during World War II and is only one Oscar away from achieving exclusive EGOT status. He is most recognized for his parts in The Dick Van Dyke Show (1961–66), Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (1968), and Mary Poppins Returns (2018) aside from his legendary role in Mary Poppins (1964).

Dick demonstrated he could still act, sing, and dance alongside his wife, former make-up artist Arlene Silver, 50, in their Everybody Loves a Lover music video on Valentine's day this year. Along with barbershop trio the Vantastix and trumpet player Tony Guerrero, the pair played a cheerful rendition of a Richard Adler and Robert Allen song made popular by Doris Day in 1958. Dick spoke about the group he formed in 2020, "I love to harmonize, so that keeps me going." He added, "It's kind of my retirement amusement. I don't play golf. I have more fun singing and dancing." Arlene said about Dick, "He is the most perfect human being. I've never met anyone so happy, so genuine, so amazing. He's just like a happy pill."
