"She’s my only grandchild. June Love was a beautiful baby, she deserved a good life..."
One mother's negligence took away the life of her own baby and caused sorrow to her family members.
According to People, Lacey Ana Mazzarella from Rancho Palos Verdes, California was sentenced to 14 years and eight months in prison after her ignorance led to the death of her 2-year-old daughter, June Love Agosto. The sentencing was announced by the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.
The incident that led to the prison time took place on 21 September 2019. June was found unconscious in her mother's vehicle that was parked in West Carson, California. Though the child was rushed to the hospital, her life could not be saved. She died on 23 September 2019.

Later, the mother revealed to the authorities that she had left June buckled into her car seat at around 11 p.m in her vehicle with the windows rolled up. She had placed a blanket over the legs of the toddler and had also left the heat on to keep her warm. Mazzarella then went away to drink with a friend in a vehicle that was parked next to her's. However, the mother fell asleep in her friend's car and woke up only five hours later.
When she returned to check on her child, the engine and the heater was still on. Immediately, she noticed vomit on June's clothing and burn on her face, chest, and arms. Subsequently, the frantic mother removed the kid out of the car and sprayed her with a hose to cool her off. Shortly thereafter, paramedics rushed the child to the hospital.
Authorities claimed that the child's temperature was 107.5 degrees at the time, according to People.
After investigation, Mazzarella was initially charged with one count each of murder and child neglect resulting in death. Later, she entered no-contest pleas to one count each of voluntary manslaughter, mayhem, and child abuse resulting in death. The sentence that she received was based on the guilty plea agreement she entered.
June's death caused a lot of pain to her dear ones. The child's grandmother Helen Hernandez said, "She’s my only grandchild. June Love was a beautiful baby, she deserved a good life. She deserved to grow up, go to school," according to Fox 11. She added, "Our family is broken, we just need prayers and we’re just broken."
The family had raised $8,531 through a GoFund Me fundraiser at the time for June's funeral expenses.
