Bride Embraces Her Gray Hair And Refuses To Dye Them On Her Wedding Day | “I Just Wanted To Look Like Me”

Her hair started graying when she was 16 years old and she dyed them for about 15 years of her life.

Kadeja Jackson, from Miramar, Florida, was advised by her hairstylist that she should cover her gray hair before her wedding but she refused.

The 38-year-old told PEOPLE, "I didn't want to look in the mirror on my wedding day and see a stranger. I just wanted to look like me." Her decision and the final bridal look have inspired many people on social media to follow suit. She donned her vintage Hollywood glam hairdo in her wedding photos that have since gone viral. She is inspiring many women around the world to embrace aging and natural beauty.

Jackson "cannot believe the feedback" she has gotten from social media. She said that it has caught her "totally off guard."

"Because everybody is all, 'Oh, I'm so amazed with your style, I'm so amazed by your hair. You're so stunning.' And I'm like, 'What? Are they serious?' It's exciting, but it's very surprising," she shared.

Jackson's hair began to gray when she was 16 years old. She was embarrassed and used to dye her hair continuously with weekly touch-ups for 15 years. She stopped dying her hair seven years ago and since then, people have been amazed by her style. She is stopped by strangers multiple times a day to ask who her stylist is and the name of her hair color. "I started to embrace it. I felt more beautiful than I did before. I got tons of compliments," she said.

She revealed that even her husband Derrick Baker objected to the suggestion of dying her hair for the wedding. She said, "Derrick was totally against it. He loves me with that look." Baker and Jackson met in high school when they both were in ninth grade. He works as a football coach and behavior specialist at Somerset Academy and Jackson is the Regional Manager for the Housing Department in Hollywood.

They were best friends and attended college together. They started dating during their freshmen year; they have been together for over 20 years and have two children together. Baker proposed to Jackson on Mother's Day last year with their two sons by his side. They got married on June 26 at the Hotel Colonnade in Coral Gables, Miami. Jackson described her bridal look, saying, "I would describe it as a regal, classic, look. I wanted a timeless look."

She completed her look with thick crystal vine hair accessories from La Vie Bridal. Her hair was styled by the Mon Cheri Hair Design team in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. On their wedding day, make-up artist Tia Codrington admired the bride's hair and posted on social media with the caption, "I love the girls that stick to their roots." She told the outlet, "She wasn't ashamed of it. She didn't try to hide it. ...She was herself and I just hope that it inspires people to be themselves. And it's okay, you can still be beautiful even if your hair is gray."
