Brad Pitt rekindled his friendship with Aniston after his split from Jolie.
Relationships are complex but being doubtful and jealous is not healthy for partners. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were once the most celebrated couple in Hollywood. But their marriage did not stand the test of time. The couple that share six children parted aways after Jolie filed for a divorce in 2016.
Brad Pitt united with Jolie after he split from Aniston in 2005. Pitt had met Jolie at the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith and the couple instantly clicked. Though there were rumors about their affair at the time, Aniston did not doubt her husband and their relationship. However, months after the movie, her life turned upside down when the affair came to light.
Later, Pitt officially confirmed his relationship with Jolie. Soon, the two revealed their special connection during the filming of the movie. "Because of the film we ended up being brought together to do all these crazy things, and I think we found this strange friendship and partnership that kind of just suddenly happened. I think a few months in I realized, 'God, I can’t wait to get to work'," stated Jolie, according to Marie Claire.
She added, "We just found a lot of joy in it together and a lot of real teamwork. We just became kind of a pair. And it took until, really, the end of the shoot for us, I think, to realize that it might mean something more than we’d earlier allowed ourselves to believe. And both knowing that the reality of that was a big thing, something that was going to take a lot of serious consideration."
Though Pitt was part of her life, the Maleficent actor was reportedly threatened by Aniston and felt insecure in her relationship to Pitt. According to the Latin Times, a source stated, "Angelina was never able to get over her obsession with Brad and Jennifer’s relationship,” a source claimed. “Even though she had Brad, it was like she was jealous of Jen. She seemed to go out of her way to diss Jen whenever she could, which was unnecessary." She allegedly believed that her husband would fall back on his former wife if they had marital troubles. “She checked his cell phone and emails to see if he was talking to Jen,” stated the source, according to Latin Times.
Filmmaker Ian Halperin stated that the Jolie was so disturbed that she wanted Brad to cut all contacts with his former wife, Aniston. Though Pitt tried to assure her that her fears would not be true, the actress reportedly was worried deep within.
“She really wanted Brad to distance himself from Jen completely after he left her. No matter how much Brad assured her, Angie, deep down, always feared he would go back to Jen,” said Halperin, according to Inquisitr. Moreover, Aniston's close relationship with Pitt's mother, Jane despite their divorce bothered the actress.
On the other hand, Pitt never gave her a reason to worry about her concern. He remained loyal throughout despite Jolie having her suspicions. However, once the couple called quits, and Pitt reconnected with Aniston. They rekindled their lost friendship. Pitt even apologized to Aniston on how he handled their divorce. "Of course he wishes he’d handled the end of their marriage in a more thoughtful manner," stated the source to the US Weekly. "He asked for Jen’s forgiveness a long time ago and she gave it," they added.
He also attended Aniston's 50th birthday party after 14 years of their divorce. Sources close to them stated that the former couple supported each other through their tough times. "Jen and Brad have remained friends and have spoken with each other quite a few times since they both became single. They are friends and have supported each other through some tough times," said a source to ET. "They've come so far since their marriage and plan to stay friends for life," said another source to Pop Culture.
