The 68-year-old journalist revealed that he had no idea his condition was so serious when he first consulted doctors about a few stomach pains.

Al Roker rejoined the TODAY show following a gap of two months after recovering from a severe health crisis and five surgeries. The famous weatherman returned to the NBC morning news program on January 6, 2023, and shared details about the surgical procedures he underwent to get him back on his feet.

The journalist, accompanied by his wife Deborah Roberts, revealed the tough times he went through as he underwent an intense 7-hour surgery to "correct a bunch of internal stuff," reports PEOPLE.

Roker shared that he had no idea he was suffering from some major health issues as he felt fit and good to go before his body gave warning signs. He had been admitted to the hospital twice, he revealed, saying: "Look, I had two complicating things. I had blood clots, which they think came up after I had COVID in September. And then I had this internal bleeding going on, I lost half my blood. They were trying to figure out where it was."
