You Can Now Holiday In A Giant Wine Barrel At This 116-Year-Old Vineyard And It's Beautiful

Quinta da Pacheca has created 10 quirky wine barrel suites.

Are you a wine connoisseur or are you absolutely obsessed with wine? Either way, you might want to add this hotel to your "bucket" list. A nearly 300-year-old vineyard in Portugal has a hotel suite built inside a giant wine barrel! The Wine House Hotel at Quinta da Pacheca estate in Lamego allows guests the opportunity to stay in a 98-foot cedar wood suite overlooking the Duoro River. There are 10 luxurious suites built into oversized wine barrels situated just feet away from its sprawling vineyards. If you love the "high" life, this place may be perfect for you.   The beautiful wine cask cabins have a large circular mirror glass window that leads outside to a small patio. The suites also offer luxurious amenities including private bathrooms with a walk-in shower, skylights, big round beds, and a private terrace.  Your quirky barrel stay is also fitted with air conditioning and WiFi. If you'd prefer a more traditional hotel experience, Quinta da Pacheca also has regular rooms but if you have the bucks, why wouldn't you want to spend time in a luxurious wine barrel!?

"Quinta da Pacheca created the wine barrels as a bold architectural project of suites to reinforce the originality of the wine tourism offered at the site," a vineyard representative said, per Metro, according to Thrillist. "In an idyllic romantic setting, these wine barrel rooms will provide visitors a unique experience to the nature and significance of the Douro wine region."  The vineyard also has its own on-site restaurant called The Wine Room. Here guests can relish in upscale and authentic Portuguese fare every evening.

The 10 unique barrels were all designed by property owners Paulo Pereira and Maria do Céu Gonçalves on the vineyard’s 140-acre estate according to Wine Spectator. Each barrel is about 270 square feet ,Wine Tourism Portugal reported. Booking your own barrel would set you back nearly £219 ( that's about $286 USD) per night. It’s definitely a bucket-list experience!  Also, what's life in a wine barrel without... the wine! The vineyard’s bottles are stored in a nearby 18th-century house, with red, white and rosé, as well as port available. Your stay at the vineyard could also include wine tastings paired with cheese as well as samples of locally made jam and olive oil. You and your significant other can spend time on a marvelous picnic in the vineyards, indulge in a wine course, or even take part in a cooking class where you'll learn traditional techniques while preparing your very own delicious meal!

Sleeping in a luxurious wine barrel has left many guests over the moon. According to one couple who documents their travels on Instagram, Katie and Scott Bray, loved their stay at the one-of-a-kind hotel. According to Good Morning America, the pair called the whole experience "authentic" and told followers they had the "best night stay." They also called  the inventive rooms "truly magical." "We paid $295 euros per night," Katie Bray told ABC News. "They are built very well. We had a beautiful shower area inside and the 'cork' on top was a sunroof."
