7-Year-Old Found Dead Inside Washing Machine Hours After He Was Reported Missing

The boy's father was at home, while his mother is said to have been working a shift at a nearby hospital.

A seven-year-old child from Texas was discovered dead inside a washing machine, just hours after his parents reported him missing on July 28. Troy Khoeler was discovered after being missing for around 2-3 hours. During the time period, the boy's father was at home, while his mother is said to have been working a shift at a nearby hospital, reported Harris County Sherrif's office, as per Fox News.

According to officials, Troy's parents filed a missing person report at about 5:20 a.m. The boy was last spotted at the Birnamwood subdivision's 4400 block of Rosegate, per KTRK. Officers from the Homicide Unit arrived at the house and interrogated the parents. That's when officials decided to conduct a comprehensive search of the house.

Officials discovered Troy fully clothed in the top-load washing machine in the garage at 7:20 a.m. Harris County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Robert Minchew stated he couldn't say if the machine's lid was closed or not. Troy is a foster child who was possibly adopted by the family in 2019, but officials are currently investigating.

Harris County Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman said in a Facebook post, "We ask for everyone's prayers for the family."

The Harris County Medical Examiner's Office will identify Troy's specific cause of death, according to Minchew. He told New York Post, "We don’t know what happened, but we intend to find out. Whether he was killed by the washing machine or killed and placed in it, we’re just so far from that, I can’t comment."

Minchew stated that the investigators could locate "not a lot of history" of calls from the residence.

The event is still being investigated by police, and no charges or arrests have been made. It's unknown how the youngster ended up in the washing machine, which is in the family's garage. The parents were arrested and escorted to the sheriff's office for additional questioning. The family has no other children. Officials could not say whether foul play was suspected or if he got into the machine himself, but they did say he was dressed when he was discovered.

According to a relative of the father, they learned about what happened via the news. He declined to speak on camera but stated the family has been taken by surprise and is heartbroken.
