37YO Woman Gives Birth To 10 Babies After Doctors Miss Four During Scan

The woman gave birth to her decuplets consisting of seven boys and three girls at a hospital in the city of Pretoria

Earlier this year a Malian woman made headlines when she gave birth to nonuplets i.e nine babies. 37-year-old Gosiame Thamara Sithole from South Africa has made a new record by giving birth to 10 babies all at once, reported Mirror.

The woman gave birth to her decuplets consisting of seven boys and three girls at a hospital in the city of Pretoria in June. Reports say that the children were conceived naturally and were delivered through C-section at 29 weeks.
However, the feat has not been confirmed by doctors or the Guinness World Records. Doctors had apparently told her that she was expecting six children before later scans suggested that there were eight, reported Mirror.

According to Mirror, Sithole of Thembisa, Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality, is a retail store manager who already has two twins aged six. Earlier this year, she had spoken about her pregnancy to the media and said that it was initially tough. She was sick for long and experienced constant leg pain and heartburn.
She had also expressed her concerns about her unborn children not surviving the high-risk pregnancy. The children will now have to spend the next few months in incubators before she and her husband, Teboho Tsotetsi can take them home. The father described himself as "happy" and "emotional" following the birth.

Sithole beat the record from 25-year-old Halima Cisse from Mali, who gave birth to nine children this year. She too was told that she was septuplets all the way through her pregnancy but doctors were shocked to find two more children when they performed a C-section. She gave birth to five girls and four boys who are said to be "doing well". Cisse was flown to Morocco for specialist care after the Malian government intervened in her rare case, reported Mirror.
